I must have been 15. My mom bought me an outfit that, while I was grateful, I felt like a complete SQUARE in it. The outfit was cute, y’all! But to an impressionable 15 year old who wanted so badly to fit in, square wasn’t something I could take a chance on being.
But between dressing up in outrageous theatre costumes at every chance and head banging in the school parking lot with my friend Jamie, there wasn’t much hope for redemption.
I grew up, out, and into my own skin as a person, which I am proud to say was through the grace of Jesus Christ. I’m so thankful.
I still turned out kinda square-ish.
Are you surprised? 😝
I shared that little story because I recently bought this skirt and shirt at Goodwill for all of $8. It’s comfy, handmade, feminine, and I can dress it up to be uniquely trendy in a million different ways. The 15 year old me wouldn’t see it that way.
Really, this post isn’t about fashion and having the best #ootd, but something a bit deeper. I felt like the biggest square/wannabe yesterday. How are we supposed to act when someone comes to you just to find out if you are the cheapest around, or even worse, they don’t value you or your work? Take a deep breath and keep on keeping on.
At 15, all I wanted was a quick compliment or flattery. So I dressed for what I wanted.
These days, I dress my business according to what I offer. Which is valuable, true, and honest.
At 27, if I wanted a quick buck, I’d charge $100 for what I wanted. But I don’t want a quick buck. I want to get to know you, spoil you, and wow you with beautiful images that you are glad you have.
So if you have doubts, question my fees, or think, “I don’t want to spend that much on my portraits.”…….that is aye-okay. No hard feelings here.
I’m not the photographer for you.
God gave me talent and I am not afraid to give Him credit for being good at what I do. I go the extra mile to feed your spirit in a way no other photographer does.
It’s okay if that’s not what you’re looking for. It’s okay to move on.
It’s okay to not like my style or to even have more faith in another photographer.
That’s just fine. There are some great photographers out there for every need imaginable.
But do not come to me and ask me to lower my prices for you. And furthermore, do not tell me I am not worth it. Until you book with me, you do not know.
I am worth it.
I am worth the time.
I am worth the investment.
I am worth it when I welcome you into my home with hospitality.
I am worth it when I ask you your opinion.
I am worth it when I make your dreams come to life.
I am worth it when I make you feel beautiful.
I am worth it when I aid to your comfort in front of the camera.
I am worth it when my innate smile is all you remember of me from our time together.
I am worth it when I handmake your custom package that holds all your precious memories.
I am worth it when you look through your memories and think, “Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t pay more for this.”
Because I firmly believe that….
You are worth it.
You are worth the time.
You are worth the investment.
You are worth it so I welcome you into my home with hospitality.
You are worth it so I ask you your opinion.
You are worth it so I make your dreams come to life.
You are worth it so I make you feel beautiful.
You are worth it so I aid to your comfort in front of the camera.
You are worth it so I can’t help it if my innate smile is all you remember of me from our time together.
You are worth it so I handmake your custom package that holds all your memories.
You are worth it. So I work hard so you can look through your memories and think, “Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t pay more for this.”
This is a cornerstone of Kailee Trippett Photography.
You are worthy.
